Year Long Projects

challenge is the new black

let me know about your year long project
365 Masks:
“I love masks. I’ve always had a fascination with making them but didn’t start to get serious about it until the last five years or so. All the masks I make can be worn as well as displayed, so the most important characteristics are comfort (durable ties, no metal or wire or rough surfaces rubbing against the face), ability to see and breathability. A piece of wall art with no eye holes, air holes or way to wear it on your face can’t correctly be called a mask. Why 365 masks? It seemed like a good idea. I chose a year-long project partly because I wanted to force myself to create something every day, and partly because it has an end, so I can measure my progress and not just quit if I get bored or frustrated. My true inspiration for it, of course, came from Skull A Day.”
